Non fiction graphic organizers and writing according to Teachers College

We read non fiction books with a partner.  We discussed the book with each other.  We drew our own graphic organizer and filled it in.  We took the words from our  organizers and wrote a non fiction report.

Pine cone experiment

We gathered pine cones from the yard. We brought the pine cones back into the classroom.  We made observations about the cones and took a seed from the cone and observed it.
 
We decided to put the open pine cones into water to see what they would do overnight.  We made the prediction that they would sink. Some of the girls decided they would shrink.  Can you guess who was right?

GRADE ONE

We began our day with a prayer .  The girls were wonderful!  We accomplished a lot today. The  girls labeled their  books and  folders with some direction .  The girls discussed how they could "BEE" with one another and people that they meet.  We also discussed what bullying is and how to handle it.  The girls learned how to conduct themselves in the classroomand hallway. They were great.
