TINS

Wondering what this means?  Look at the photos below.  T  means thought, I means information,  N means a number sentence,
S means solution.  We are learning that this is what you need to break down a word problem.  Check your daughter's homework notebook and you will find the sheet of questions you need to ask when solving a word problem. These will be helpful for the girls.

We  will begin our wordly wise study on Monday.  I would like the girls on wordlywise3000.com  every  night to listen to the  lesson.

WESTWARD EXPANSION

We have been working very hard on Westward Expansion.  The class discovered that the Louisiana Purchase was integral  to the growth of the United States.

We have had a fabulous time learning  about wagon trains, how they were made, what they carried and how they were driven.

The class has also worked extensively on the transcontinental railroad.  They have researched it and created a train.

The reports and projects have certainly piqued the childrens interest.  Enjoy the pictures!

INCLINED PLANES

The second grade has been learning about inclined planes.  We decided to build an inclined plane with an s shaped ramp. We learned that someof the walls needed to be higher on one side than the other, so that, the marbles did not fly off the side. We also learned that the smoother the ramp the faster the marble rolled. Take a look!
